Where do I get Axmo?
From Microsoft AppSource — search for Axmo in Excel under Home → Add-ins, or install it from the AppSource listing. If your organisation restricts the Office Store, the install page covers the other two routes.
Is Axmo really free?
Yes. The free tier is the full modelling product — dimensions, dataseries, recurrence and aggregation — forever, no credit card. AI authoring will join it when it arrives, free and unlimited at every tier. Paid plans come later and add hosted collaboration and governance; they never remove features from Free.
Where does my data live?
In your Excel workbook. Axmo doesn't move your model to our server — the model is a file you own, emailable and versionable, and it opens even if we disappear.
Isn't this just Power Pivot?
No. Power Pivot analyses data you already have; Axmo builds the forward model that produces the plan — drivers, assumptions, and recurrence. Different jobs. We don't try to beat Power Pivot at analysis, and it can't build a forecast.
Which versions of Excel does it work in?
Excel on Windows, Mac, and the web.
Do I need my IT department to install it?
If your company lets you add your own add-ins, no — get it from Microsoft AppSource, or sideload it directly if your organisation restricts the store. If add-ins are managed centrally, your IT can deploy Axmo to you. See the install page.
The AppSource listing says the add-in can send data over the Internet. What does it send?
That line appears on every Office add-in listing — it's Microsoft's standard declaration for anything that runs in a browser engine, and it describes what an add-in could do rather than what this one does.
Axmo sends no model content, no workbook content and no data you enter. It loads its own program files from our servers, and Office.js from Microsoft's, as every Office add-in must. The only other thing it transmits is an error report when something goes wrong, built field by field from a fixed list that excludes error text, formula text, cell values, and worksheet, range, dimension and series names. There is no usage analytics, no session recording and no tracking.

Will Axmo have AI features, and will they cost extra?
AI authoring is in development and we are not publishing a date. When it arrives, you will be able to bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key and use AI to help build models and write formulas — free and unlimited, at every tier including Free, with no quotas. The cost of the AI call is borne by your own provider, not by us, which is why we can commit to not gating it behind a paid plan.
What happens to my models if Axmo goes away?
They stay yours. The format will be open. The Axmo model format is a documented container — a zip holding a YAML model file and a version marker, with no encryption and no proprietary extensions — and we will publish the specification so other tools can read it. Older versions stay readable permanently.
